Procedures to Follow when Using WS_FTP LE

Installing WS_FTP LE

1. Download WS_FTP LE.
2. Install the application.
   • Start or double click on WS_FTPLE.EXE (This is the file you just downloaded).
   • Click NEXT
   • Click YES  when the question Are you a student, faculty member, or staff member of an educational institution (k-12, junior college, college, or university) appears.
   • Click YES when the Software License Agreement appears.
   • For the destination directory, c:\Program Files\WS_FTP should be selected. Click NEXT.
   • For a Program Folder, WS_FTP LE should be selected. Click NEXT
   • Click FINISHED
   • Installation is now complete.

    

Setting up WS_FTPLE

1. Start WS_FTP LE by clicking on Start , Programs, WS_FTP LE, WS_FTP  LE
2. In the Session Properties window, Click on the General tab
3. Click New
4. Enter the following information into the required fields:
   • Anonymous: Make sure that this box is UNCHECKED.
   • Saved Pwd: Make sure that this box is CHECKED.
   • Profile Name: www.yourdomain.com
   • Host Name/Address: server1.datalinkhosting.com
   • Host Type: Automatic Detect
   • User ID: This is the first eight characters of your domain.
     • Example 1:  If your domain name was, www.examplesarefun.com , you would enter "examples"
     • Example 2: If your domain name has less than eight characters as in www.exams.com, you would enter "exams123"
   • Password: This is the password that you selected when you signed up using our Web Hosting Account Details page after you paid for your account.
   • Account: Leave this field blank
   • Comment: Leave this field blank

   

    

5. In the Session Properties window, Click on the Startup tab
6. Enter the following information into the required fields:
   • Initial Remote Host Directory: /public_html
   • All other fields are left blank
7. Click Apply

Uploading/Downloading your files

1. Click OK
   • You will then be connecting to the server. Your local files (files on your computer) are located in the left window (Local System).
   • The files that are currently on the server are located in the right window (Remote Site)

    

2. To upload your files to the server, select the files you want to upload in the Local System window by highlighting them with your mouse.
   • To select multiple files or folders, Hold down the CTRL key on your keyboard while selecting your files with your mouse.
   • To select a range of files or folders, Hold down the SHIFT key on your keyboard while selecting your files with your mouse.
   • Once all your files are selected that you want to upload, click on the --> (right arrow) located in the middle of the screen.
   • Your files will then start to upload to the server.

    

3. To download files from the server to your computer, select the files you want to download in the Remote Site window by highlighting them with your mouse.
   • To select multiple files or folders, Hold down the CTRL key on your keyboard while selecting your files with your mouse.
   • To select a range of files or folders, Hold down the SHIFT key on your keyboard while selecting your files with your mouse.
   • Once all your files are selected that you want to upload, click on the <-- (left arrow) located in the middle of the screen.
   • Your files will then start to down load from the server.
